This is wayyy overdue.

So, I participated in Self-Stitched September after reading about it in a DIY blog. Even though most of the things I wear on a daily basis are handmade by myself or someone else or second hand..i thought it would be fun to do & see how much i actually do wear handmade things. Also, I wanted to give myself a huge push to make more clothes for myself.

In September I also started a new job. I realized that I didn’t have a lot of business casual/dressy/work clothes AT ALL. Also at this time I was low on funds so instead of buying myself a whole new wardrobe I refashioned old clothes I already had, sewed some things from scratch, dug into my piles of old clothes I plan on selling/donating, and bought clothes from thrift stores.

I didn’t make as many clothes as i wanted to (due to said new job) but here’s what i did make:

pink shrug with hoodstooth trim

this was a bit difficult, the fabric has no stretch whatsoever!

bow shirt

thrifted shirt turned tank

pencil skirt

in progress thrifted sweater. (its inside out) added a zipper, gotta get off my lazy ass and finish this one!

here’s a dress i made a few months ago, but never wore. i reworked it with the cardigan = i like it now and wore it to work recently.

and some thrifted work clothes. diy-ed the leopard sweater so it fit me better.

So, yesterday I went on a quick trip to Goodwill looking for some lining fabric for a bag im making. Didn’t find that, but this is what I did find:

Haven’t done one of these in awhile.

<img src="http://i471.photobucket.com/albums/rr77/lessthanamie/blog/wiwt8-21-1.jpg" width=400px">

This is how i chose to dress myself today.

t-shirt: ebay
shorts: old levis jeans cut up into shorts. really need to throw these out; so many holes and falling apart but they’re my fav shorts!
tights: urban outfitters
+ black flats

I had a pretty darn busy & awesome week full of relaxing, beaches, sleepovers, parties, and beautiful sights. I didn’t realize how much I wasn’t around this week until my mom greeted me this morning with, “hello my long lost daughter!”

So I deemed my saturday to be “an Amie day.” Did some grocery shopping, cleaned, checked out some new music, and did some song writing. Probably going to have a chill day tomorrow as well.

I didn’t do too much today….i got my haircut, went to the grocery store, and did a tiny bit of shopping. Most of my day was spent inside cleaning and whatnot. exciting, right?

Lately i’ve been so lazy with my makeup, mainly just doing black with some silver/white highlight over and over again. Butttt today i ventured out and did some light blue/dark purple. I like how it came out :]

The yellow wool they used looks great and i love all the buttons and zippers. I’m thinking i’ll use either faux leather or teal wool. Can’t wait to make this, although the difficulty rating is “hard”…i’m not sure my sewing skills are good enough yet!
