red hot hair & what I wore

Tuesday, December 13th, 2011

After many trials & tribulations…I finally have the perfect red hair color! Well, perfect for me. After many months of being a blonde, now I have the super bright, but not too unnatural red I’ve been itching for. So happy.

Wore this out on a sushi date, when it was warm enough to just wear a hoodie…those days are slipping away into a cold winter oblivion. I’m off to go on a shopping trip with my mother, wish me luck!

sketchbook typography

Been working on a print illustration…typography style. Feels good to sketch things out instead of instinctively firing up Photoshop!

One of the best parts of the weather being gorgeous and summer-y is being able to make my messes outside. Dyed some clothes I wouldn’t otherwise wear. Believe it or not, I used good ol’ black RIT dye. Guess I got impatient waiting for them to soak in the dye ;) Regardless, I have a revamped cardigan (it was originally tan) & a shirt which I now like the style AND colors.

I’m absolutely obsessed with ornate frames painted pretty bright colors. Found this thrifting after itching to make one of my own. I used a sweet bright blue acrylic color. The paint didn’t cover very well on the frame even after a primer coat plus two color coats..I have a feeling spray paint would end up looking nicer :)

Finally giving myself time to get back into the swing of sewing.

Craft: Lace spray paint shirt

Monday, April 11th, 2011

I haven’t been crafting or sewing too much lately, all of my focus has pretty much been on graphic design. I think I go through small phases with my hobbies & things I like to do. BUT, since the weather is starting to warm up i’m getting motivated to be super crafty again.

I had just enough lace left over from this shirt to cover the white tee & spray paint the heck out of it to make a snazzy pattern. I love how the scallop at the bottom of the fabric left a neat edge, too.

If you’re curious, I got the rad idea from here.

thrift finds 8/22

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

So, yesterday I went on a quick trip to Goodwill looking for some lining fabric for a bag im making. Didn’t find that, but this is what I did find:

striped sweater/shirt, vintage belt, black yarn, and a car cd holder (which i really needed!)

sweet brown leopard sweater which needs a little DIY-ing. Gonna add a zipper and possibly make it a shrug.

anddd this awesome dress that was only $4. fit me perfectly. will be great when i need something classy to wear.

also posted to Thriftwhore on LJ. Check it outtt.

Haven’t done one of these in awhile.

This is how i chose to dress myself today.

t-shirt: ebay
shorts: old levis jeans cut up into shorts. really need to throw these out; so many holes and falling apart but they’re my fav shorts!
tights: urban outfitters
+ black flats

I had a pretty darn busy & awesome week full of relaxing, beaches, sleepovers, parties, and beautiful sights. I didn’t realize how much I wasn’t around this week until my mom greeted me this morning with, “hello my long lost daughter!”

So I deemed my saturday to be “an Amie day.” Did some grocery shopping, cleaned, checked out some new music, and did some song writing. Probably going to have a chill day tomorrow as well.
