New Year = New planner

slingshot-pen

Hello 2012! It’s that time of the year again…time for a fresh new planner to fill up with tons of words, lists, doodles, & ideas. The Slingshot Organizer is hands down my favorite planner. This is my 3rd or 4th year [I lost track!] using one, I was feelin’ turquoise this time.

It’s a hand drawn, punky, radical, unique, and incredibly useful little organizer. They also make one in a smaller pocket size, but I personally prefer more room to write. I like a lot of the calendar and to-do list apps out there but I always find myself going back to just writing things down.

What’s your favorite planner?

getting over it

Monday, July 11th, 2011

I’ve been in a bit of a funk lately. I’m not going to pretend that i’m not, but i’m not going to go into details. (hey, it’s not always butterflies and fluffy clouds around here!) With that being said..Even if you’re feeling less-than-awesome, push yourself. Make a change. Force yourself to make something. Start a project. Start writing a blog post. Even if you don’t feel like it at all, starting is half the battle & you’re that much closer to completing something and feeling accomplished. Focus on the positive.

A few things that have been making me feel great:

hanging out in coffee shops + yummy drinks

getting dolled up just because

giving much needed attention to my guitar

appreciating & being thankful. pretty flowers? actually a weed :)

I’ve been working on a bunch of design projects lately that have definitely been keeping me busy. I spent a couple days giving my digital portfolio a makeover…It goes with this lil blog now! I’m really happy with it.

What helps you get out of a funk?

Ocean City Beach Fest

Monday, May 30th, 2011

A flyer I designed for the Ocean City Beach Fest, which was yesterday. The fest is held annually in New Jersey on the boardwalk, over ten bands scheduled to play & the proceeds from the event tickets go to disaster relief victims. My band was included to play the festival and I was excited about the road trip, music, and hanging out on the boardwalk. Although, unfortunately we didn’t end up attending or playing (long story!) I used one of my photos from my recent trip to the Jersey Shore area.

{recipe for a good mood}

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

Whenever i’m not in the best of moods (or really, whenever!!), I make it a priority to put my favorite record on and work on a project, write, or read. I’ve been wanting to make an inspiration book for the longest time, and when I saw this post I got reminded that I still haven’t made one!

I re-vamped an old notebook, I only have two pages done so far so i’ll post some pictures later.

Music that I love blaring through speakers + looking at/reading positive things = everything is better ♥

So, i’ve been working on a re-design for Completely Unfinished for a few weeks now, but I keep getting stuck. I always have a hard time designing things for myself! I’m taking my time, I want it to totally represent me & what I have now can definitely be designed better. Bear with me guys!

Gettin’ inspired, Thrifting

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011

While doing some design work today, I took a break and headed out to the library to get some books to look through for inspiration.

I got two graphic design books, one gorgeous photography book..plus a book about thrifting.
Coincidently, I went thrifting after that. If you don’t know me very well, let me just tell you that it’s one of my favorite things to do. I adore looking through various old things…things you wouldn’t normally find…and the thrill of not knowing what exactly you might find. I get super inspired looking at so many unique things…I rush on my way home because I feel a burst of creativity.

I had good luck with finding awesome art this week..huzzah! I was instantly attracted to that framed “Resistance” art and I had to have it. There’s a name of an organization in Vermont on the bottom of the artwork..i’m going to look it up later today. Another thing I love about thrifting is not knowing/finding out where something came from. I’m really curious. That’s a leopard print sweater that’s brand new. I’m going to wear it to work tomorrow.
