This weekend was jam packed.
emphasis on the Jam…

(Sorry for the bad pun, I had to!)
Saturday night my roller derby league had our first match. I just recently passed my skills test to be able to scrimmage so I wasn’t rostered to skate–instead I had a blast watching the ladies duke it out against a league from Connecticut! I’ve never ever had so much fun at a sports game before…we lost by just 2 points and I was on the edge of my seat the whole second half. Truly such an exciting and amazing time.

Random shot of the action!
Pictures not by me–I was too busy rushing around, serving beer, selling raffle tickets, and jumping up and down cheering. Also I should have taken a photo of my outfit…I finally had an excuse to wear my ripped up fishnet tights & a leopard print skirt I made awhile ago :]
I read Kaylah’s post Estate Sales 101 & it totally reminded me of how i’ve been meaning to go to one. Thanks to Estatesales.net I found a bunch in my area that were going on throughout the weekend. We picked one in particular because some of the sample photos showed old pinup photos and vintage ads. I was so stoked to check them out..but by the time we got there they were nowhere to be found. Boo! I did get some neat knickknacks though.

Mason jar, record for dad, polaroid film, and an Andy Warhol art book.
It was a really unique experience. We had to wait on long line to get inside the house (they let a couple people in to browse at a time so it’s not too crowded) and the house was huge. I didn’t think about how the whole experience would make me feel..sad for the family’s loss and it was so interesting finding out about the person who lived in the house. Turns out he was an optometrist and even part of the house was converted into an eye exam office. There were lots of old cameras and video camera stuff, too. At one point I felt guilty being disappointed about the old pin ups being gone…imagine what the family must be going through and how emotional it must be selling the entire contents of a house! Totally different from the usual thrifting adventure. All in all, definitely looking forward to checking out more estate sales in the near future.
